hi everyone I'm James I'm co-founder and head of nutrition at heel now you might have come across a lot of nutrition myths or some common ones that being banded about all the time I'm going to try and bust some of those today clear some things up for you because it you'll were all about nutrition first myth one you should cut out carbs if you want to lose fat ok carbs there's broadly speaking this two main categories it's a starchy carbs your bread potatoes rice pasta etc and use your simple carbs all your sugars and sugary foods and sweets so should you cut out carbs if you want to lose fat no you should not cut out carbs if you want to lose fat carbs are great however you should cut right down on the sugary carbs next myth fruit is bad for you because it contains a lot of sugar so it does contain some sugar but some fruits contain a lot less than others and fruit contains a lot less sugar than your sugary snacks also fruit is high in fiber which slows down the digestion and absorption of the sugars and fruit is also rich in vitamins and minerals so fruit provides a lot more in the way of nutrition on to the next myth salt is bad for you ok salt can be bad for you if you have way too much but it's an area of much controversy as to what is too much a high intake of salt or sodium salt is sodium chloride is linked to high blood pressure and high blood pressure is a risk factor for heart disease and stroke and other cardiovascular diseases however sodium and chloride are actually essential in your diet so you need to have some a key take home here would be don't have too much added salt in your diet maybe either use it in cooking already at the table don't do both but I'm not too worried about that the reason why people have too much salt in their diet is because it's used in a lot of bad heavily processed junk foods and they are not good for you from multitude of reasons which I'm sure you already know so if you cut right down on these foods that by default or cut your salt intake right down I hope you found this useful if you've got any questions or if you disagree with anything we've said please ask below or get in touch and our nutrition team will answer any queries you've got ok don't go the feedback
